Da temple dog
sniffs out faith,
buries regret,
burns da incense
of love.
She guards da temple,
One eye blind
to da world,
One eye open
to da soul.
Her blind eye seas
da unseen, da unforgiven,
da unspeakable.
Open eye welcomes joy and sorrow
Entering da gate,
by dark and by day,
She watches
da outside walk in,
da inside walk out.
Candles Lit
in da darkness of doubt
extinguish fear.
She licks away
da poison of guilt
from crimes unsolved,
swallowing answers unknown.
Da temple dog
barks sweetly
to da moon.
“From poison to medicine,”
“From untruth to truth,”
She chants.
One eye open, one eye closed,
She rings da temple bell,
Breakfast is served.
Da Temple Dog
Licks her lips,
Kisses Goodbye.
