Da Red Dirt Mama callz

her baby chickz,

All in sunburned yellow,

Wild, red feet scratching.

 

Da chickz watch Mama Rule,

She iz a dark feathered Queen,

Her cape iz stained by sunsets

soaked in salty rain and bitter clay.

 

Red Dirt Mama scares demons,

cars and dogs away.

She checkz and peckz,

swallowz centipedes for lunch.

She feedz and leadz,

teachez and scoldz.
